I want to volunteer.

How Volunteer Link Up (West Oxon) can help you.

We can put you in touch with many types of community or voluntary organisations which involve volunteers. These include:

  • Local or national charities
  • Supporting people with disabilities – mental health, physical or learning disabilities
  • Campaign groups
  • Environmental organisations
  • Advice agencies

Find out more about volunteering opportunities in your area at oxonvolunteers.org, the volunteering website for Oxfordshire, and the national volunteer website, www.do-it.org. If you know that you would like to volunteer for a particular organisation, google the name and find out if they have a website. Most websites have a volunteering tab, or at least their contact details, and take it from there.

Volunteer Link Up (West Oxon) also runs three in-house projects for which we recruit volunteers.

Community transport - Volunteer drivers provide transport in their own cars for members of the public who are unable to use public transport, or for those living in rural areas where it is not available, to hospitals, day centres, health centres, clinics and other activities.

Befriending - Volunteer befrienders visit and support people of all ages and any ability, who are lonely, socially isolated or who would benefit from some company and conversation. Volunteers also help with shopping or take people on local outing e.g. coffee in town for a change of scene. Every client’s needs are unique and we match volunteers’ abilities and preferences with clients’ needs.

Practical Tasks - Volunteers do garden tidying, lawn mowing, basic decorating and small DIY tasks for elderly and disabled people on low incomes.

Travel expenses (mileage or bus fares) are paid to volunteers who provide these services.

We want to hear from you! Contact us to see how we can help you or your organisation - in person, by telephone, by email. A one-to-one confidential interview can be arranged by appointment.
